Blog Hop: Behind The Scenes Of Girl Tweets World

I’ve been nominated by the darling Taylor Hearts Travel to take part in this Blog Hop in which various bloggers reveal what goes on behind the scenes of their words on the interweb. As a blogger I find this incredibly fascinating – when you work by yourself and for yourself there is no way of knowing if what you do is wildly different to everyone else. Taylor’s answers were particularly inspiring for me as she manages to run her blog around a full-time job and produces far more content than I ever managed to when I did the same! (Respect lady!) She does mention that her job has nothing to do with blogging though and how this can be a good thing, which I totally understand because when I was working as in-house blogger full-time it was hard to summon the energy to do the same thing when I got home.

Anyway, back to the questions at hand. If you are a blogger I would love to know if your writing process is different from or the same as mine. And if you aren’t a blogger, I hope these few questions will give you a little insight into why and how I do what I do, and maybe inspire you to do something similar too.

Q1. What am I working on/writing?

I’ve just started an article on the shopping hotspots of London for one of my blogging clients. One of my main sources of income is writing blog posts for other companies and websites so I will do a couple of these types of articles for various clients throughout the week. On Girl Tweets World I try to keep the articles more personal and informal, this blog started as a way to keep in touch with family and friends and I’m very keen to retain the same tone and similar topics.

Q2. How does my work/writing differ from others of its genre?

Oh gosh, I’m not sure really. A lot of people who have met me say that I write exactly as I speak and when they read my posts they imagine them being read in my British accent, which I find really funny! As I have been doing this for a few years now I have been lucky enough to meet many of the readers in person or have spoken to them individually online so I feel like I know them personally and vice versa. I’ve also been lucky enough to turn what started out as a hobby into my main source of income, so with some of the newer streams of content on Girl Tweets World I have been sharing how exactly this works.

Q3. Why do I write what I do?

Because I can’t stop! Many of my hobbies lost their shine over the years but my love for travel and blogging has only grown. I write because it makes me happy and sometimes I get to make the people who read it happy too. I feel really blessed to have been able to see so much of the world and do the work that I do and I would like to inspire and help others who have a passion for travel and blogging to go for it too.

Q4. How does my writing process work?

Impatiently. Compulsively..

I actually have a post planned on this very topic because I think I am not a very good blogger when it comes to this process. I tend to write what I feel and then I can’t help but press publish and see what the world has to say. I know that it is good blogging practise to have a regular schedule so readers can come to expect certain content on certain days but I am just too damn impatient! I am trying though. For the very first time I have created a content schedule for Girl Tweets World with post topics planned in advance. I don’t write the actual post until the day it is due though to prevent me from posting it too early. Is this madness? I expect so! I would love to know how other bloggers work around this issue.

I think many of my favourite bloggers have already been nominated for this post and I am probably going to double up but here goes. My nominees to continue the #BlogHop are..

Nicole from Bitten By The Travel Bug. Nicole is a jet-setting Aussie travel blogger who spends so much of her time in London she considers it a second home. She writes about adventure, culture and luxury travels.

Beverley from Pack Your Passport. Beverley is a london-based travel blogger who has heaps of tips on living and working in Australia and New Zealand. She’s a big fan of road trips and daydreams.

Claire from The Sweet World Of Travel. Claire is an award-winning travel writer who sprinkles her beautifully worded travel blog with humour. She writes about her travel mishaps, tips and the practical bits.

Over to you 🙂

I’m so nosy, so love posts like is where you get an insight into how other bloggers structure/organise their blogs! I agree that sometimes just pressing send is the best way to go as I can spend aggggeeess dissecting what I have written and usually change my mind! Ps loving the new design
