Have you ever arrived at an airport, luggage weighing you down, a long queue at security and then another at WH Smith and just wished you could speed through check in and find somewhere quiet to sit and rehydrate before boarding your flight? I have this wish constantly, particularly over the last few months when many of the UK airports have been undergoing refurbishment.
In 2012 I found a cure though. A way to get into the holiday spirit before you’ve even left the country or cracking on with business before embarking on a trip. It’s called No.1 Traveller – a collection of award-winning airport havens and pre-flight services including chauffeur-driven airport transfers, security fast-track, VIP Departure and Arrivals Service, Express trains to and from Heathrow, Gatwick and Stansted and car parking.
No.1 Traveller currently operates 5 airside lounges located in Heathrow Terminal 3 (their flagship facility), Gatwick (North and South Terminals), Stansted and Birmingham Airports. Chic and contemporary in design, No.1 Lounges offer a stylish retreat from the bustle of the main passenger terminal. Hot and cold drinks (including wine, beer and spirits), a self-service pantry table and selection of hot meals from the Bistro are all offered complimentary (the pancakes served in the morning are delicious and the menu changes seasonally which keeps regular travellers on their toes). You can also take advantage of the free publications on offer (I save a fortune by stocking up on newspapers and magazines like Tatler and InStyle) and Wi-Fi is fast, free and unlimited throughout.
You can choose to settle yourself in an office area, cosy snug, cinema, Bistro Bar or family room depending on your needs – if you’re an airplane geek like me you’ll want to be somewhere near the window making the most of the panoramic runway views. And if you still have some time left after all that then be sure to visit the No.1 Travel Spa for some last minute pampering.
Win No.1 Traveller VIP Departure Service, Lounge Passes & Glass of Champagne For Two
So this is the good bit – rather than just taking my word for how improved my journeys are thanks to No.1 Traveller you can try their services yourself as I have 3 pairs of VIP Departure Service & Lounge passes to giveaway to readers and their friends. The No.1 Traveller VIP Departure Service is designed to help you get through the airport quickly and efficiently with porters who will meet you at the airport and assist with your bags, then fast-track you through check-in, security and immigration take you to the lounge where your champagne will be waiting!
Entering is simple. We just want to know what part of the No.1 Traveller Driveway to Runway experience you think you would appreciate the most? A chauffeur-transfer to take you to the airport? A VIP Departure Service agent to fast-track you through check in and security and drop you off at a No.1 lounge? A quiet space to relax? The free food? A cheeky glass of bubbles at the bar? (You can read about my favourite aspects of the No.1 Traveller lounges here.)
Leave your answer in the comment section of this post before midnight on Monday 3rd March 2014 and earn yourself extra chances to win by spreading the word on social media. (See boxed section below.)
The winner will be picked at random and contacted the week commencing 3rd March.
Good luck!

February 17, 2014 at 3:35 pmExactly! The only time I have missed a flight was when there was a fire on the Gatwick Express line. So much stress that could have been avoided!!

February 17, 2014 at 10:08 amEasy!! I would love the quiet and comfy space.
A good time to get the mac out and have a last minute search on my destination and write down a few more places to go (whilst having a nice gin to get the thoughts going).

February 17, 2014 at 10:26 amThe entire experience sounds divine! Travelling is stressful enough at times, to not have to worry about ‘how am I going to get to the airport?’ to ‘where are we going to have a quick lunch/drink before getting on the plane?’ to getting picked up, whisked through, and relaxing in the cinema room is just heaven. Especially as our next holiday is our honeymoon, a glass of bubbles sounds like the perfect way to start it off!

February 17, 2014 at 11:56 amFor me the entire No.1 Traveller VIP Experience sounds absolutely brilliant, but if I had to single out one aspect that I would love the most; then it would have to be getting whisked through check in and security and onwards to the No.1 Traveller Lounge. For me that is one of the most stressful of experiences at the airport, so I’d be pretty happy with eliminating that part from any airport experience!

February 17, 2014 at 12:56 pmThis would take so much of the stress out of airports! I can’t even count how many times I’ve had to drag multiple bags all around to check-in desks… not my favorite thing to do. This service sounds divine!

February 17, 2014 at 1:59 pmThe best bit would definitely be being whisked through check-in and security. Being faced with a monster queue for security when you know on the other side are shops and an airport lounge with a glass of bubbly waiting for you is enough to make any person crack!

February 17, 2014 at 7:16 pmThe chauffeur service – I have notoriously bad luck with public transport which has caused more than enough stress on the way to the airport in the past!
Or the free food. Probably the free food actually.

February 17, 2014 at 7:28 pmThe opportunity for complete relaxation in the lounge ahead of a trip, instead of what typically for me is quite stressful experience, is the one thing I’d truly appreciate from the No.1 Traveller Driveway to Runway experience. Being able to chill out in a calm space with great food, comfy chairs, a spa, the chance to enjoy a shower plus a glass of complimentary champagne pre flight sounds amazing. Thank you for the opportunity to win.

February 18, 2014 at 5:36 pmThe fast track through check in & security. There is nothing worse than getting to the airport early only to find there is a long queue at check in as they only have 2 desks open & they are checking in 3 or 4 different flights. You get through that queue then you have to queue again for security

February 19, 2014 at 12:31 pmThe chauffer transfer would be perfect for me. Would save me begging my poor mother to take me to the airport every time I go away or lugging my bags along on the tube. I once got the bus to Heathrow at 4am for a business trip – I wasn’t very awake during that meeting!

February 19, 2014 at 6:15 pmSurely this is a silly question? What’s not to like?! As pancake and spa addict, I’d have to say those parts of the lounge would make my day. Bubbles and the chauffeur would also help my smile to last all holiday. Fingers crossed!

February 24, 2014 at 8:54 pmLet’s get real about this: the advantage of using a lounge service is comfort – no crowds, plenty of seats, complimentary food & drinks, with plenty of staff to look after you. That, for me, is heaven by itself.
Add the chauffeur & VIP service…and you are laughing all the way to the Gate…..
Anna Pearman
February 24, 2014 at 9:31 pmI would like the chauffeur driven transfer so my holiday could start early with no stress getting to the airport just a lovely relaxing journey in a car not driven by me. February 24, 2014 at 9:46 pmFor me it would be the VIP Departure Service. Messing about with lines at security and check in etc is time wasted that I could be shopping/having coffee or a drink in the lounge or enjoying a spa treatment. I have toyed with the notion of paying for it!

February 27, 2014 at 12:02 pmThe VIP Departure Service sounds amazing! I can handle the bus/tube ride to the airport, but once I get in there I start panicking: which check-in desk is it? Have we got all the details? What gate number? Why isn’t the gate number up yet? Are we at the right terminal? What time does the gate open?
Getting whisked around without having to worry about anything sounds divine.
