January 16, 2020 at 4:39 pmHi, I’m loving following your blogs.
I recently read your immigration process for Australia and I just had a few questions in regards to whether you can still leave Australia on your tourist visa if you have a bridging visa awaiting for outcome of partnership visa or does the bridging visa kick in once the tourist visa expires so theoretically you can still leave and come back?
Ie we want the best of both worlds. We want to start the citizenship process but still be allowed to leave the country. Thanks for your help x

April 21, 2021 at 7:31 amHi Cathy, my understanding is the bridging visa doesn’t kick in until the tourist visa expires. At least that was the case with the working holiday visa I was on. I was able to travel and leave the country up until the bridging visa took over. After that I had to apply for permission each time. You can find out a bit more about that here https://www.ourtravelhome.com/expat-diaries-why-i-havent-been-able-to-leave-australia-for-8-months/
