Hi, I’m Jayne, a UK travel and lifestyle blogger and mum of a 2-year-old son.
After spending the last decade living in London, Sydney, Melbourne and New York (for a few awesome weeks), I’m now living in Berkshire, the Home County I grew up in, and discovering there’s lots to love on our doorstep.
About Our Travel Home
Our Travel Home is a travel and interiors blog where I share my passion for my two favourite things in the world – travel and home decor.
It’s a brand-new name for a blog I started in January 2010, initially just to share my misadventures around the world with friends and family. I had no idea that not only would I still be blogging 11 years later, but that this site would document my travels to 60+ countries, a move to Australia, a wedding, a baby, a new house and a pandemic!
Like many people around the world, I developed a passion for home décor and interior design while we were confined to our homes. But as someone whose first love will always be travel, I’ve tried to find ways to inject that global-influence into our new build in Berkshire.
My aim with this blog is to share my continued love for travelling with my small family, as well as my new found love for styling our home. When international travel resumes I can’t wait to merge those two hobbies together and go hunting for homewares in the flea markets of Paris, Brooklyn or Berlin. (For starters, anyway!)
My travel crew are my Aussie husband, who is the aviation geek/ points hacker of the team, and our son Miles, so named for the 30,000 of them he did in my belly.
Since welcoming our little traveller to the mix, we’ve been favouring slower family travel – we spent 7 weeks in New York and 3 weeks in Australia during our son’s first year – and we’ve tried hard not to compromise on the style of travel we love. (So far, anyway!)
More recently, we’ve been enjoying toddler-friendly days out in the UK and chic child-friendly staycations.
My goal is always to find beautiful places to stay (you know, the kind of accommodation that makes you want to come home and redecorate!) but, of course, there needs to be an element of practicality now we have a (crazy!) young kid.
The travel guides you’ll find here are a mix of the street eats, shopping secrets, stylish accommodation and can’t-miss tourist attractions I’ve explored on my trips. I only write about places I’ve been and seen for myself, and I’ll tell you exactly what I think, usually with a bit of British humour thrown in.
(Like the floating breakfast in Bali that almost ended my marriage :p)

Our Home Style
In 2020 we bought out first house, a fairly standard English new build property, that we’ve been slowly injecting with some personality. My home styling idols are Studio McGee and Amber Lewis. (I’ve asked my husband a number of times if we can move to Utah and buy a farmhouse to fill with their homewares but he says that’s not on the cards at the moment!)
Some things we have done to add character to our new build house include building a fireplace and mounting a Samsung Frame TV that looks like a painting above it. We’ve also recently made over my home office and tried our hand at DIY panelling for the first time. Posts on both of these subjects are in the pipeline.
