If you saw my stories today you’ll know that I thoroughly enjoyed a mooch around my local @neptunehomeofficial store today. I got to see a couple of pieces of investment furniture I’ve been waiting to see in person and bought a few pretty accessories while I mull the options over.

Another hobby I’m glad to have back is rummaging for bargains in charity shops. Today I found this basket for £2! What do you think?

On the week that shops finally reopen I thought I’d share one of the purchases I made during lockdown that I might not have done had I seen it in person. 😩🤦🏻‍♀️

Because, while I love the size & shape of this pendant light, both the exterior is darker and the interior brighter than I had in mind for this room. But it took months to arrive & was about the third pendant I’d ordered & returned so by this point I just wanted to hang something!

I’m still undecided on it’s fate - keep, spray, sell?! - but boy am I glad to get to the shops this week & make some purchases in person.

PS how’d you like the little close up of our DIY panelling in the hallway?!

PPS If you’ve spotted we’re light on chairs it’s because I took the bench that was here outside for sanding. It’s not going well 😅 I’ll fill you in on stories.

Farewell lampshade, it was nice knowing you. 🥲😬🤪

Lamps have a short shelf life around our toddler at the minute. Surprisingly, when this one was knocked over, the glass base survived but the shade did not. Luckily, that’s easily replaced.... At the shops tomorrow! 😁

(Well, actually Tuesday when he’s at nursery because have you ever tried to shop for homewares with a toddler? It’s not pretty!)

So our little patio makeover has been a bit of a palaver.

Firstly, when the landscaper arrived to extend the patio he asked us to remind him of the work he was doing and then uttered the words ‘that’s not what we agreed’. It seems that despite coming out to quote & taking notes he’d forgotten a whole section when quoting us. I was out at the time so we ended up in this awkward situation where they started work & we didn’t know what they were going to charge us. In the end it was only an extra £150 but the job was rushed & the day stressful. It was a reminder to me to a) always push for detailed quotes and b) you get what you pay for. (This company was 50% less than anyone else who quoted but was nowhere near as professional!)

Secondly, Amazon only sent us half of the bench seat we ordered. There’s supposed to be a seat and planter boxes attached to the screen in the background here but apparently it’s been lost in transit. Twice. We placed the order about 6 weeks ago & while I want to give up & ask for a refund, we ordered this set to match another one at the other end of the patio & the bit that’s missing is now out of stock so I don’t rate our chances of getting another if we cancel. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thirdly, we ordered the slabs for our patio extension from Wickes and they charged us twice. Customer service assured us the transaction would be reversed but 3 weeks later they still owe us £350 😬 We’ve taken it up with our bank.

And finally, what happened to spring?! Is everything we planted dead already?! I honestly can’t tell 🤣😩

Hopefully we can get our money and orders through soon and get the garden makeover on track. But the path to home renovation never does run smoothly does it?!

It’s our ‘fake wedding’ anniversary (see stories - it’s not as weird as it sounds!) so we’ll be celebrating lockdown stylee tonight with a takeaway, a movie, and a lot of daydreaming about one day returning to either of the 2 places we said ‘I do’!
